How we brought an underperforming property back to life and exceeded AirDNA revenue projections by 45%.
In the early Fall of 2022 we came across an amazing opportunity in Wimberley, a custom built 4 bedroom, 4 bath log cabin just a short drive from the charming center of downtown Wimberley. The house was already a short term rental, but had been grossly under performing to its potential. AirDNA data predicted that this home could generate a mere $70K revenue, but we believed that the home had the potential to do a lot more. With the right design and storytelling, we were confident that we could build upon its existing charm and exceed these revenue projections.
In November 2022, we began updates on The Cowboy Surf Lodge, with a primary focus on enhancing the outdoor spaces. Our goal was to design a serene getaway that radiated upscale comfort and tranquility. The transformation began with an upgrade of the above-ground pool, elevating it to a new level of above ground pool sophistication! We maximized the space with hardscaping and landscaping, creating various lounge areas to promote an environment of relaxation and socialization. To ensure privacy and an exclusive atmosphere, we installed a privacy fence. The final touch was the integration of high-end amenities, including a fire pit and an outdoor barrel sauna, setting our lodge apart from the competition with a distinctive blend of comfort and luxury.
In addition to transforming the exterior, we wanted to create a compelling narrative through the interior design. Inspired by our own journey, which has spanned the coastal edges of the country, we sought to infuse the spirit of our experiences into the soul of the home. This narrative serves as a bridge, connecting the rich tapestry of our past to the vibrant heart of Texas Hill Country—a harmonious blend of our personal journey and the essence of Texas. The story we've crafted resonates with our guests, setting The Cowboy Surf Lodge apart with its distinctive style and unique ambiance in comparison to other local accommodations.
We launched the property in June of 2023 and have had incredible bookings for the property, including repeat guests. We expect the revenue to increase by 20% in 2024.

This property is stunning! The backyard area is gorgeous with all the amenities you could ever hope for. The place inside and out is equally gorgeous and cozy. I cannot say enough positive things about the host. She was immediately responsive and very helpful with all our planning questions for months leading up to our stay and went above and beyond to be accommodating and hospitable. Would recommend Cowboy Surf Lodge 10/10 times and we hope to stay there again!
